The nominal 65% Tin - 35% Nickel intermetallic compound behaves like a noble metal in its resistance to strong oxidizing acids such as nitric acid. It can be used as an etch resist. It resists all atmospheric
conditions and has been used in place of chromium as a decorative finish. It is readily solderable, but to a lesser degree than the tin or tin-lead alloy. Tin Nickel has less notable contact resistance when used alone, but can become one
of the best contact surfaces by the use of a thin deposit of gold. Its hard and more brittle surface tends to be less formable.
